This two and one half hour film tells the story of the impact of the Castro led insurrection in late 50's on a large and prosperous Cubano family living in Havana. If you made a face while reading that, this film is probably not for you. If you were intrigued, this Andy Garcia starrer and directorial debut is powerful and sweeping film. Bill murray and Dustin Hoffman add some color but the hand picked cast is the heart and soul of this very fine film.

Too slow to develop. Mixes legend, fairy tale symbolism and Spanish Facists. Some great visuals. Not for everyone. Somewhat too creepy and too much violence for young kids as the R rating should serve warning.

Sort of a GoodFellas meets Entourage. Timberlake is not bad(Dammit). Anton Yelchin and Ben Foster are both excellent. Nick Cassavetes directing is solid.

With the looming release of the sequel 28 Weeks Later, it is high time for this post.

28 Days Later proves conclusively that really fast zombies are 78% cooler than regular zombies.

Antonio Bandaras bangs Angelina Jolie like a wind up monkey bangs his little tin drum. I am pretty sure other stuff happened but I don't know what it was.

Summer Movie Season 2007 kicks off with neither a bang nor a whimper but a feh. I read that Sam Raimi is reluctant to sign on for Spidey 4 unless someone came up with a "great" new idea. Apparently he did not apply the same standard to this film.

Is this the summer that Hollywood rakes in 4 Billion + without producing anything resembling and entertaining film.
